What To Expect
What can you expect from Mayday as a private care client.
A Carefully Selected Care Team
We select care professionals according to the individual’s:

-
Assessed needs
-
Required competencies
-
Personality
-
Preferences
-
Communication style
-
Daily routine
-
Family circumstances

We aim to provide a small and consistent core team, supported by planned continuity arrangements.

Clinical Oversight Where Required & Clear Communication
Where a person has clinical or complex needs, the package will be supported by appropriate clinical assessment, care planning, competency checks and ongoing review.

With the individual’s consent or other appropriate authority, we can agree how and when family members receive updates. This may include:

-
Scheduled telephone updates
-
Review meetings
-
Notification of significant changes
-
Care-plan reviews
-
Incident communication
-
Coordination with relevant professionals
-
Responsive support

Care needs can change. Mayday provides operational and clinical escalation arrangements so that concerns can be identified, reviewed and acted upon.
Respect For the Home
Care professionals are guests in the individual’s home. Support will be provided with respect for privacy, personal possessions, routines and family life.

How the service begins:
1. Initial conversation
A member of our team will discuss:

-
Who requires care;
-
Where care is needed;
-
The current circumstances;
-
The type of support being considered;
-
How soon the service may be required; and
-
Who should be involved in the assessment.
2. Individual assessment
We will assess the person’s:

-
Care and support needs
-
Health and clinical requirements
-
Medication
-
Mobility
-
Communication
-
Personal routines
-
Home environment
-
Risks
-
Preferences
-
Desired outcomes
3. Care Proposal
Following assessment, we will provide a proposed service model setting out:

-
Recommended support
-
Proposed staffing
-
Care schedule
-
Management and clinical arrangements
-
Mobilisation requirements
-
Indicative commencement date
-
Fees
4. Team Selection and Preparation
We will identify suitable care professionals and arrange any package-specific preparation, training, shadowing and competency assessment required.
5. Care Commences
The service will begin according to an agreed mobilisation plan, with enhanced oversight during the initial period.
6. Review and Adjustment
We will review the service after commencement and make appropriate adjustments as the person’s needs and circumstances develop.

Care That Works Around Family Life
Private care should reduce pressure on the family—not create another service that the family must manage.

Mayday can act as the central point for coordinating the care package, while keeping authorised family members informed and involved. Our aim is to give families confidence that:

-
The correct people are attending
-
The care plan reflects current needs
-
Concerns will be escalated
-
Changes will be communicated
-
The service is being actively managed
-
Their relative is being treated with dignity and respect
Frequently Asked Questions About Mayday Homecare's Home Care Services
Choosing the right home care services is an important decision. At Mayday Homecare, we understand that you may have questions about how our home care works, the support we provide, and how we tailor our services to individual needs. Here, you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions about our home care services.
We welcome information about the individual’s preferences and will use this when selecting the team. Care professionals must also have the experience, checks, training and competencies required to deliver the service safely.
We aim to provide a small and consistent core team. We also maintain contingency arrangements because illness, leave and unexpected events can affect availability.
This depends on the location, type of care, number of hours and competencies required. Following the initial conversation, we will explain the assessment and mobilisation timescale.
We may be able to respond quickly to urgent situations, including hospital discharge and family-care breakdown. Safe mobilisation will always take priority over making an unrealistic commencement promise.
